What Is Primer and Why Does It Matter?

Primer is the preparatory undercoat applied before any topcoat paint. It seals porous surfaces, locks in stains, neutralises alkalinity in fresh plaster, and gives the topcoat a uniform surface to bond to. Skipping this step is the single most common cause of paint failure — peeling, flaking, patchy colour and premature repainting.

Godavari Paints has been manufacturing since 1972, with over 50 years of chemical engineering experience, at an automated facility in Vadodara, Gujarat

Raw materials: premium acrylic resins, rutile titanium dioxide, functional extenders and low-VOC solvents.
Production: automated nano-milling and computer-controlled batching for consistent particle size and adhesion.
Quality control: raw material purity checks, batch viscosity/density testing, cross-hatch adhesion testing and accelerated UV weathering.

Godavari's primers and waterproofing systems have been specified on projects for organisations including Hirandani Builders, TATA Project , L&T, Rustomjee, Godrej Properties etc and various Public Works Departments and municipal corporations; and worked with architecture/consulting firms including Hafeez Contractor, Shashi Prabhu & Associates, Engineers India Limited, Sembawang Infrastructure, Patki & Dadarkar and Premnath & Associates
